Medication Authentication with Aegate:

DocMorris pioneer in falsified medicine protection

Heerlen/London, March, 30, 2016. Today DocMorris already implements the technical requirements for the authentication of the medicines prescription process, an upcoming protection system that will be legally required in the EU at the latest by February 2019. In doing so, they will be the first mail order pharmacy in Europe to be able to put the EU Falsified Medicines Directive (2011/62/EU) into daily routine at the pharmacy – to patients’ advantage. Every medication for which the manufacturer provides individual safety features and security seals that meet EU specifications can be checked. Therefore Aegate has developed a demonstrator, that shows the end-to-end-authentication process from the manufacturer until the pharmacy, the dispensing point. The benefit for the pharmaceutical manufacturers: Thanks to the cooperation between Aegate, the worldwide leading specialist in medication authentication, and Europe’s largest mail order pharmacy DocMorris pharmaceutical manufactures will be able to check, their serialisied medicine packs under real conditions.

Verification occurs using the technical connection to an authentication platform by Aegate, one of the selected National Blueprint providers in Europe. The Aegate platform fully meets the specifications of the directive, and both pharmacies and mail order pharmacies can connect to the European-wide system.

For years, DocMorris has supported measures that strengthen medication security at both a European and national level. “As the most modern pharmacy in Europe, it is clear that we want to be the pioneer in implementing the guidelines from the Falsified Medicines Directive to offer our patients the maximum level of protection when purchasing medications.
